JFS Welcomes New Executive Director

JFS Welcomes New Executive Director

Jewish Family Service of Utah is excited to announce the selection of Melissa Zimmerman as our new Executive Director. Melissa will assume her role at JFS on March 25, 2024.

“We are thrilled to welcome Melissa as our new Executive Director,” said Board President, David Dowsett.  “She is a compassionate advocate for underserved communities, while also being a strategic, data-driven visionary and leader, who is ideally suited to be the face of our organization.”

With a 15-year career in non-profit human service work, Melissa mostly recently served as the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern Arizona in Tucson. She earned her BA in Psychology from The University of Arizona and holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver.

“We conducted a national search and found the right person,” said Darcy Amiel, Immediate Past-President and Chair of the Search Committee.  “We believe Melissa’s unique combination of skills and shared values will not only elevate JFS, but will also inspire our wonderful staff, the Board, donors, and community partners.”

Melissa and her husband, David, will be relocating to Utah in the coming weeks. We look forward to having the chance to introduce them to our community and hope you will join us in welcoming them both to the JFS family.
