JFS Welcomes New Board Members for 2023

“I am so excited to once again take on the role of President of the JFS Board of Directors,” said David Dowsett. “I've been a JFS volunteer since 2008 and it's been so gratifying to be a small part of the agency's commitment to strengthening the lives of families and individuals throughout Utah."

During the December 2022 meeting, the Board of JFS elected four new members: Jim Isaacson, Sara Lambrinos, Karen Lindau, and Elizabeth Tashjian, who began their three-year terms on January 1. The Board works together to support JFS’ mission of strengthening individuals and families of all backgrounds through counseling, advocacy, care management, and community education.

“We are thrilled to welcome this new slate and we are grateful that they are sharing their expertise and experiences in support of JFS’ mission and work,” said Ellen Silver, Executive Director. “I look forward to collaborating with this talented group of leaders of as they help guide us through the year ahead.”

Karen Lindau is a returning Board member who served multiple terms since 2005 and was Board President 2010-2011.  Effective January 2023, Karen will serve as Board Secretary and will sit on the Executive Committee.  Karen is retired from the University of Utah School of Nursing.

Elizabeth Tashjian is also a returning Board member who was off the Board this past year after two terms.  Liz has long been a substantial contributor to the Budget and Finance committee and will continue in this role in 2023. Liz is a Professor of Finance at the University of Utah and a longtime volunteer in the Utah Jewish community.

Sara Lambrinos joins the Board after serving on the JFS Marketing committee for the past three years.  Sara is the owner of a web-site development company, Sites by Sara, and has been incredibly helpful with the JFS website and other digital marketing.  Sara will co-chair the Marketing Committee in 2023.

Jim Isaacson is new to the JFS Board in 2023, having been a prominent leader in the Utah Jewish community for close to 30 years.  He has served on the boards of and in leadership positions for the Federation, the JCC, the McGillis School and mostly recently as Co-President of Congregation Kol Ami.  Jim will serve on the JFS Governance committee in 2023. Jim is an executive in the medical device industry.

David Dowsett will serve as President; Darcy Amiel, Immediate Past President; Lisa Treiman, Vice-President; Ann Bernstein, Treasurer; Karen Lindau Secretary; Susan Arsht, Officer-at-Large, and John Bergerson, Officer-at-Large.

JFS is also extremely grateful to our returning members Gabriella Archuleta, Harriet Berg, Maria Estrada, Gerry Goldman, Kathryn Goddard, Andrew Gruber, Erin Litvack, Kim McGuire, Donna Milavetz, and Lavine Shapiro; as well as those who completed their three-year terms in December: Casey Lebwohl and Marty Slattery.
