Mary’s Story – Mental Health

At JFS, we recently had the privilege of assisting *Mary, a client who sought our counseling services upon retirement. Faced with insufficient insurance coverage to address a painful and traumatic past, Mary embarked on a transformative journey with one of our dedicated counselors.

In weekly sessions, Mary engaged in profound work, processing trauma and cultivating mindfulness skills. The therapeutic process not only allowed her to confront past challenges, but also provided a space to clarify her core values, set achievable goals, and craft a credible plan to embrace life more fully.

Collaborating seamlessly with our APRN, Mary's life underwent a remarkable transformation. She is now actively pursuing her tailored plan, breaking free from the grip of Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, and Generalized Anxiety.

According to national mental health statistics, nearly 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences mental illness each year. Additionally, more than 50% of individuals with mental health conditions do not receive the necessary treatment. At JFS, we are committed to addressing these needs through our holistic and accessible approach to counseling.

JFS’ licensed clinical mental health staff provides professional mental health counseling and clinical services to help people who are dealing with depression, stress, anxiety, suicidal thinking, and other mental health issues, with the goal of helping clients to experience reduced distress and develop strategies to address their problems, weather crisis, and improve the quality of their lives. Counseling is offered on a liberal sliding fee scale; however, more than 75% of clients receive services at less than the minimum cost of $25. No one is turned away for lack of ability to pay.

Mary’s story is a testament to the positive impact that comprehensive mental health support can have on individuals and the broader community.
