Solutions to Senior Hunger

In 2016/17 Jewish Family Service was one of 12 state organizations chosen to participate in the Solutions to Senior Hunger program.

This initiative was launched in Utah in 2016 by JFS.

Rosemary Quatrale is JFS’s Older Adult Care Manager. She manages the Solutions to Senior Hunger program in Utah, identifying low income seniors and assisting them in enrolling in the Food Stamps program. Rosemary conducts Food Stamps outreach and education to senior populations, administers Food Stamp application assistance for eligible participants, and acts as a liaison between the participants and their local government agencies.

This FREE service to help people 50+ enroll in the Food Stamps program is available to anyone regardless of background or denomination in Salt Lake, Wasatch, and Summit Counties. The Food Stamps/Horizon Assistance debit card helps Utahns buy healthy food at grocery stores and farmers markets. Older adults are the least likely population to be enrolled in this federal assistance program, with only 40% of eligible individuals participating.

Do you know a person age 50 or older who might benefit from food assistance?

If so, we'd like to help. Please email Rosemary or call 801.746.4334 today for more information.
