Thank for your interest in volunteering with Jewish Family Service. Volunteers make our work possible.
Our volunteer opportunities are flexible to your interests and time constraints. Some volunteers are able to volunteer an hour a month, and some five hours a week; we are grateful for the time you are able to provide, regardless of how little or how much.
All volunteers will be trained and supervised and can rely on JFS staff for support. All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check. If driving is required, volunteers must have a current Utah driver's license and car insurance.
If you are interested in any of the current volunteer opportunities, please contact, Beth Montgomery, Volunteer Coordinator, or call 801-746-4334.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
FRIENDLY VISITOR
Friendly visitors visit with aging adults who would benefit from support. Volunteers are matched with a client based on need, schedule, and personality compatibility. Visits can include providing good company and conversation, doing a variety of hobbies such as reading to those who can no longer read or exercising, transportation to appointments, and/or running errands. Often, all our clients need is the time of someone willing to make a difference.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT
Help a caregiver by providing time to look after their loved one while they take a much needed break for self-care and fun.
FOOD PANTRY SUPPORT
Volunteers in the food pantry assist with the necessary work to keep the food pantry running smoothly. Some of these responsibilities include organizing food deliveries, picking up food orders, cleaning out refrigerators and shelves, putting together food bags and resource packets, and more. These positions are very flexible.
FOOD PANTRY ADMINISTRATION
These volunteers are required to have regular and dependable scheduled blocks of time managing the food pantry. Volunteers are responsible to cover the front desk of the pantry and assist those accessing the food pantry.
