Troy’s Story-Safety Net

Emergency Assistance and COVID-19 Relief

Healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic often suffer from burnout, stress and anxiety that can have life-altering implications. Due to overwhelming stress and fatigue, a registered nurse found himself unable to continue working in the field. Troy realized he needed treatment for both mental and physical health issues. Temporarily unable to work, medical and other bills started piling up. He was afraid he would lose his housing. “I thought I’d be losing my place to live, for sure. There are a ton of details that were pretty overwhelming for me,” he said.

Troy was referred to Jewish Family Service through one of the many social workers who partner with our agency. JFS was able to quickly help him with financial assistance so he wouldn’t face homelessness on top of trying to continue his journey of recovery.

“You saved the day. I’ve never seen God’s hand in my life quite like that before. I’m humbled and forever grateful to you and your organization.”
