Older Adult Virtual Programs

Emergency Assistance and COVID-19 Relief

JFS continues to provide free, online groups for older adults to socialize, be creative and find support. From caregiver support groups for those individuals who care for a loved one suffering from dementia to singing together in Gleeful Choir, we help older adults find connection and explore fun, meaningful activities.

Caregiver Support Groups meet weekly to discuss topics of interest and share and support each other as they navigate caring for a loved one with dementia or other illnesses. If you are interested in joining or want to learn more about these groups, please contact Rosemary or call 801-746-4334.

Memory Cafe/Dementia-Friendly Activities - This class meets up every 2nd and 4th Friday at 11 am and they participate together in a fun craft or activity meant to stimulate the mind and create a sense of accomplishment. To learn more or join this group, please contact Rosemary or call 801-746-4334.

Gleeful Choir continues to be a signature group at JFS. Designed specially for those with dementia and their caregivers, the choir engages and delights anyone who participates in a session. "We just moved back to this area and Covid hit. This has really been a lifeline for us - a way of being friends with people that we see every week, and getting to know them better. We enjoy the humor, the music, and the games. I’ve learned about karaoke, which in new to me! It’s just a real delight to work with Emily and sing in this choir -the music is really fun. This service has made a huge difference in our lives. It creates a pattern and it creates something to look forward to. Music is such a joy to share." For more information, contact Emily or call 435-840-5661.

Exploring Creativity - For those in the second half of life looking to cultivate wellness through creativity - join the Exploring Creativity Group! Each month the group explores together a different form of art while building new friendships. Classes are virtual, FREE, and beginners are encouraged! Wednesdays from 10:30 - 11:30am via Zoom. "I have immensely enjoyed Zentangling. The other day I was having trouble- a little bit of overwhelm creeping into my workday, trouble focusing, etc.  I took a deep breath, pulled out a pen and followed the steps for “Zander” on one of the videos you sent - and it worked like a charm! I was magically calm and centered in about five minutes.  So, thanks for that gift." For more information on this group, contact Emily or call 435-840-5661.
